CBTU Honors Instead of War at Awards Banquet

The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists honored the Instead of War Coalition with its Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Award at its 27th annual awards banquet on Martin Luther King Day Monday night. The award was presented by St. Louis CBTU President Lew Moye "for keeping the dream alive in these troubled times and for outstanding contributions to the struggle for Human Rights in the Greater St. Louis area." Accepting the award for Instead of War was Joan Suarez, Interim Steering Committee member for IOW and a member of UNITE, Jobs with Justice and the Worker Rights Board.

The Instead of War Coalition is greatly honored to have received this award, and we pledge to continue the struggle for peace, justice and human rights, the battle to expose the lies of the Bush Administration, and the fight against the misguided policies that are selling the soul of our nation.
