St. Louis Portraits for Peace - Speaking Truth to Power

Four hundred St. Louis peace lovers sent picture postcards to Congress on Saturday, January 27th. We sent individual handwritten notes enclosing prints of these portraits by postal mail. Our delegates on the Washington march will also hand-deliver these portraits on Monday to all 9 Missouri Representatives and both Senators. Congress Get the Picture - No New Funds for the War
After the photos were taken, several hundred gathered at St. John's Episcopal Church to warm up with Coffee and Cocoa provided by Mokabe’s, and to learn more about the Occupation Project a new national campaign to end the Iraq war by cutting off all additional funding. See http://www.ctsastl.org for details, downloadable flyer, and updates.

As the St. Louis woman on the bus to D.C. commented to the NPR reporter, nothing overt may come from her having stood on the church steps in the vigil that has been going on for the past 1 1/2 years or from her marching in D.C.--but she must do it anyway. The MLK, Jr. quotation is dead on: we must act on our highest beliefs, no matter what the cost, or our world is lost. Please remember that Lt. Watada's court martial will take place next week. This is the latest hero willing to pay the price for following his conscience.

Thank you to all of those who helped fund scholarships to attend the march in DC.
Thank you to all who stood in solidarity in the St Louis cold.
We were MEANT to be in DC...the temperatures and the skies were PERFECT..ABSOLUTELY perfect.

This was the best anti-war event put on in St. Louis in months if not years. It was efficient and I feel effective. My appreciation to all who put it on.
