A working group to explore ways in which IOW can apply its activist base to the task of returning control of our country to We, The People, in 2004.
USA PATRIOT Act
A working group to educate the public about the scope and breadth of the hastily-passed and ill-considered U.S.A. Patriot Act, and to encourage the adoption of resolutions and ordinances on the municipal, city and county level in opposition to the Patriot Act, with the broader goal of rolling back the Patriot Act's provisions in Congress.
Keep the Heat on the Lies
A working group to continue the efforts of IOW in educating the public and the press about the mistruths and obfuscations used by the Bush Administration to justify the war in Iraq and other military adventures that promote ill-defined interests at the expense of American values, prestige and long-term security.
Civilian Oversight Board
A working group to provide the Coalition Against Police Crimes and Repression (CAPCR) with the resources and assistance of IOW in the promotion and adoption of Board Bill 47, a bill before the St. Louis Board of Aldermen that would establish an independent Civilian Oversight Board to investigate allegations of police misconduct.
Immigrant Rights
A working group to educate the public at large about the U.S.A. Patriot Act’s impact on immigrant rights and civil liberties, and to offer broad support, planning and mobilization of IOW members for participation in the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride in September.
